About the event

Open auditions for the Apoca-Lips Cast, shadow cast performance of Little Shop of Horrors (1986). This is a chance to get on stage with us to lip synch your heart out as your favorite character from the film. Bring your antics and florattitude! REQUIRED FORM: https://forms.gle/yAuSd63ZLkBewAMQ8

Show dates begin in July. Rehearsals begin night of audition and run every-other Friday at Dutchess County Pride Center 6:00pm - 10:00pm, with occasional pop up rehearsals/events between.

____________________________________________ FAQ: Q: How do I prepare for audition? A: See the form! Read and fill out the waivers! Pick your top 2 roles, audition for one of these or both. Q: Oh man! I can't be at the live auditions! A: Not really a question, but hey, we allow video submissions.  See the form! Read and fill out the waivers! Q: Do I need to come in full costume for the role I want? A: No. It won't hinder your chance, if you do though. Q: Do you have the script I can look at? A: No. Skip the script! Do your best! Q: What is the difference between shadow cast performance and acting? A: Lip synch performance with a film playing behind us. (If the projector is in front of us, we cast shadows on the screen. Hence: Shadow Cast.) Do your best not to look at the screen behind you and while maintaining synchronous movement with the characters on screen. Q: Can I leave after my audition is over? A: Yes, HOWEVER, we may announce the cast quickly and go right into our first rehearsal. Bring food and drink. Meet and greet with others in the hall while we audition... unless we agree to allow everyone to watch the audition. Not always the case, but sometimes we do that! Q: Can I get a ride? A: Not from us! Please ensure you have transportation to and from rehearsals, shows, and other events. Our cars are typically stuffed with props, marketing, and merchandise! Q: Is this a paid role? A: No. It's a passion role. We don't profit enough to pay everyone, so we maintain funding for props and audience participation kits. Some venues offer food at the show (pizza & soda), other times we do catered events to celebrate after (not just pasta and sauce kind, Coley takes Celiac and other digestive hells, very seriously). Q: Do I have to pay to be part of this? A: You put in what you can for your costumes, make up, and anything else you find worthwhile for the role. So in a way, yes? We do have resources and try to borrow from each other where we can. Q: What about accessibility (ADA Compliance)? A: Many of the venues we perform at are old and have yet to be fully accommodating for disabilities (wheel chair bound or otherwise). There's usually stairs, some without rails, lack of ramps, tight spaces, uneven floors, and other struggles to get on and off stage. We work through it all, together. Q: What if... A: So many questions will come up, please ask us anything at Auditions! If we can't answer you right then, we'll look into it and get back to you! Did we mention:  See the form! Read and fill out the waivers!
